Best/cheapest way to fly from HKG to Colombia?

I'd like to visit Colombia for a holiday and want to know if anyone here can recommend the cheapest/easiest way to get there from HK. I don't think there's any direct flights. Any Colombians here who can advise the best route? HK to Miami then onto Bogota/Medellin?

Did a search on Matrix - ITA Software and lots of options around 15000

Looking like HKG-DFW-BOG is the shortest route via AA or HKG-EWR-BOG via United.

You could book different flights thru different airlines to get a better deal, like if you spot a fanfare for here to NY then you can book a flight from EWR to BOG within the fanfare's time frame but that's a bit of work and not sure about the visa / travel issues etc.

Thanks pkboy, that's a great website which I've been playing with.
Also a great idea to take a cheap fanfare flight to NY and don't turn up for the return trip. I can book that later as I'll be there for a few months.

Wouldn't it be quicker/cheaper to travel east from HKG? If I go west through Europe the trip would take longer and be more expensive.

It would be unwise to link length of any flight with the cost of said flight. The international aviation industry just doesn't work like that!

Maybe worth looking into starting your trip from Bangkok as the prices can be substantially lower than from here.

I am just back from London using the excellent EVA Air which was HK$25,000 compared to Cathay's direct flight on offer for a not unsubstantial HK$63,000.

Iberia needs money, tickets are sometimes very cheap .
and the other ticket with air China to Madrid is a night flight
