But the travel on the UK passport was 20 years ago and it was definitely NOT digital back then, so I was working on the theory that they probably would not know.....

Weird .. somewhere along the line they've figured it out. Google perhaps?

More likely the fact that my parents are both from the UK and you have to put all your parents details on the form!

Maybe they objected to you lying in the application?

Haha. Either way it is quite obvious they know she lied.

Personally I wouldn't lie so blatantly on a visa app. Asking for trouble and they're the last people you want to piss off

So OP lied and got caught and is complaining about being rejected?

No - they don't know I have a UK passport, they just assumed it based on the information provided. You could easily have been born in the UK / have UK parents and not have a current UK passport if you naturalise to another country. So today I decide whether to argue the toss or whether to just give them a copy of it - probably makes no difference either way - was just trying to simplify the application!

The rejections yesterday were all technical in nature as explained above. I was just trying to highlight for anyone else trying to apply for an Indian visa how anal they are. Quite why my company support letter, for example, had to say "multiple entry Indian visa" rather than "Indian visa" when the rest of the letter highlighted that the company pays for all my travel expenses for all my trips (plural) is idiotic. Especially when there is no guidelines as to what the letter is supposed to say! Similarly the "photo guidelines" run to half a page... nowhere does it say "printed on photographic paper" rather than any other kind of paper yet they rejected it for that too!
