If OP wants to see scenery, I would have recommended Vancouver-Calgary combo. Vancouver has terrific scenery of the coastal mountains and of course Whistler. Banff is a only short hop from Calgary. And if the OP has the time and money, he can consider taking a rail trip from Vancouver to Calgary right through the Rockies.

Niagara falls is awesome if you get to the bottom of it and soak it all in.

Basing yourself in Toronto is a good idea. As for Niagara, a day trip is enough for adults. It is not enough for kids. You can get to Niagara by bus quite easily.
I am just wondering the videos showed a lot of family activities in Niagara Falls such as indoor water park, are they worth a visit, has anyone visited the parks?
Marineland is a lot of fun. Great Wolfe Lodge is even better. You'll have fun as a family, they are very much family destinations.
If anyone can recommend some nice places to stay in Niagara Falls and Toronto it will be highly appreciated. Thanks once again for all of the suggestions.
If I was in your shoes, not driving, with kids and family, I would not worry about money but stay in the best place possible.

Any of the downtown hotels are cool but if you want to make the kids really happy, stay at the Great Wolfe Lodge - its expensive but it will be an unforgettable fun time for all.

If one goes to Vancouver, you gotta get the ferry to Gibsons, (the sunshine coast) and grab a bite to eat at Molly's Reach, the cafe that was depicted in Canada's longest running tv series, The Beechcombers.... Quite a pretty spot, which would be awesome during the warmer months.

    Re: Niagara Falls.

There are buses that goes to Casino Niagara and back from certain pick up points around the city, usually at a Chinese mall or plaza. I lived across the road from one of these plazas. Not sure what the name of the tour company is... but I'm sure you can find out.

I know about them but I'm not certain they would allow the kids to come on the bus or not....

    RE: Niagara Falls

The casino bus ($35 CAD) requires that passengers be 19 or older (legal gambling age in the province of Ontario) and can be booked through Safeway Tours - Safeway Tours Casino Shuttle凱濤皇宮賭場 » Safeway Tours
Coach Canada also operates a casino shuttle bus. Regardless, whatever hotel you're staying at should be able to help out.

Choose a hotel by the falls. Rates are in the $130-160 CAD range per night. Reason being that the interntional brand hotels will be better than the 2-star motels which Niagara is infamous for (these motels are traditionally used for sex trysts and many include free porn on TV). The City of Niagara Falls is quite small and outside of the area around the falls and casinos is not really that commercially developed. I'm talking 2-3 story early 20th century buildings here.

Great Wolf Lodge and Resort is a pretty good water park. The OP knows their kids better than we do as I don't know if this would be age appropriate for them (with kids this generation all on their smartphones and tablets).

Clifton Rd where the attractions are is about the length of an MTR station.

The food options in Niagara aren't great. However, there is:
    - Papa Johns Pizza. American chain takeout pizza.
    - Copacabana Brazilian Grill. Unlimited (but not really) grilled meat, pork and chicken as well as a salad bar buffet.

When I went to the falls years ago, what I loved the most was the rapids and whirlpool below the falls. Aren't there speed boat rides you can take along the water to the whirlpool? (I hiked, but I assume kids wouldn't be interested in hiking.)

Canada is so huge, and there are so many places to watch. If you're based on East coast, Niagara Falls is one of the first sights that comes to my mind, also I'd recommend to visit Montreal city
