Talking Suggestion for Spain and Portugal trip

I would like to seek your generous help for some ideas about the must-go things to experience the local cultures in additional to the hot tourist attractions.
Thank you very much in advance

How long are you going for? How will you be getting around - car or public transport?

I'm certainly no expert but Lisbon is, of course, a must. Aside from the well known delights, Bairro Alto hosts tight streets of friendly bars, kids playing guitars and general good spirits which you may have missed in HK.
Aside from various sardine dishes, you have to try Assorda too. It is my favourite european city.

In Spain everyone heads to Barcelona, but I've never really been impressed. Much better to go to Madrid and take a roadtrip via Toldeo down to Valencia or even as far as Cordoba and Granada if time allows.

For something other than the usual spots, San Sebastien in Northern Spain near the border with France is a nice place to visit.

San Sebastian is a little chilly rite now and is cooler in general.

    Madrid museums, there are tons,
almost all of them offer free entry at cetain times.
next on, Avila, Segovia, El Escorial palace.
    Toledo not so impressive.

Barcelona, it depends on your interests, I enjoyed the old architecture but great museums are in Madrid, not in B.

    Forget about Granada, Cordoba.
I was told Salamanca is great but have not been there.

    Greetings from Caesaraugusta.

28/9 Lisbon to Evora (Day trip)
29/9 Lisbon to Lagos/Algarve (Day trip)
