I wonder what the liability is if you do the self-service bag-drop and the bags are lost.
And yes, the human factor is the obvious flaw in their cunning plan...
I hate these self service things. I tried to check into Exeter airport and even though there was NOBODY around, like, not a single person in any queue, the woman would not let me check in at the counter insisting I had to go an use the cumbersome machine to get my boarding pass.. which she THEN checked carefully (also asking for my passport etc) before finally accepting my bags. Overall, took 3 times as long as just checking it would have. (1/3 of that time was going up tot he counter and being sent away, so on the second visit it only took twice as long).
If you do the self-service bag-drop, can you get a partial refund on the airport surcharges?
(Cos we know it's not introduced for customer convenience.)
I thought we were getting the additional levy for a third runway instead!
Why don't they have a special queue for the idiots/troublemakers who hold all the prepared/straightforward customers up?
I think it may take time but it will work and it will add to overall travel experience at HKIA
It might be success if all the passengers are youngsters......
If the simple adoption of self-check (10 or so years after other airports) will cut the processing time by 30% what was the point of Terminal 2 which added 20% extra capacity?
