Cathay: Business & Premium Economy Fan Fares

Marco Polo Club members value a premium travel experience, so we wanted you to be one of the first to know that fanfares is now offering Business and Premium Economy Class tickets, in addition to Economy Class.
Some of the fares include Biz class return (i hope) to LA for 29K, Premium Economy to Vancouver for 10K.

Phuket biz class hkd 2900. Nice if you can take time off. The dates are usually unsuitable for most people but that's a great deal.

    I'm presuming it's a return fare.

Some fares are ok but you can buy some of them for far less if your travel originates in the US/Can. They will also do away with a lot of MPC upgrades soon.

Yeah but would expect better deals out of CX being a HK airline.
I usually buy miles from a US OW partner and issue my tickets through them for CX (originating in HK) which is far cheaper especially for a J or F fare to the US.

Best prices I have found on J & F are out of Colombo

And why should they? CX are generally seen as expensive anyway.

Flag carriers are generally more expensive for departures from their home country than from the destination country. For example, I've just done a quick search and the cheapest J class fare on CX for HKG to LHR on Friday 18 November is HKD 38,690, while CX LHR to HKG is GBP 2766.45, around 30% less.

Popular HKG to Europe expat routes at the moment for cheap J class with good service amongst my counterparts seem to be via BKK on Thai Airways and Vietnam Airlines via SGN (current J class fare HKG to LHR for same dates HKD 23,747 and HKD 25,711). Obviously there is a layover, but most people who do it usually stop off for a couple of days before travelling on. Neither is part of One World though.

Fanfares can be good if you are flexible with your travel dates and want to travel in the near (ish) future. However, the allowed travel dates are usually quite restrictive so not much use if you like planning further ahead.
