@Grumbler this is a well worthwhile read about Chimelong: http://www.takepart.com/feature/2016...mmal-captivity

I highly recommend you take some time to read it before you go there. Basically, there's some very dodgy practices that they're using to obtain the animals they keep, and the article goes into quite a lot of depth about what is behind a park like that (and talks a bit about Ocean Park's history, too).

Hong Kong Dolphin Watch. Far more impressive to see these animals in the wild!

Do they offer a shuttle bus to Macau? If so that may be the easiest way as the Chimelong Hotel is in the old part of Zuhai on what was Hengqin Island Tourist Hub Centre

yeah, i am not a big fan of these places either, but it's a group activity and the kids are happy. not planning to see the circus either. just going to stroll around the park and get away from HK for a few days.

yeah, it would be the easiest for us, but one member of the group can't go through macau without visa. may end up renting a van and a driver to shenzhen directly. can't just ditch other people lol. sigh... try not to vacation during holidays anymore. a real hassle.
