I have read frantic reports (therefore unconfirmed) starting today 6 April 2017, if your current passport was issued after 01-01-2015 you must also take your old passport when applying for China Visa new rule at CTS........that is it, no more details.

why would you want to waste time with CTS to begin with? go to visa office direct
the girls on counters are bitches though, you will have to deal with that.
