    Japan data card

I'll be heading to Osaka for 9 days with the family and looking to get a sim card for data only. Does anyone have any suggestions for the cheapest 4g sim card that's easy to activate?

I prefer not using those portable wifi devices as they only last 4-6 hours a day and I don't want to bring an extra battery charger.

    Thanks

Go to Shamshuipo Apliu Street. There is a small corner shop just opposite the Apliu Stree Public Toilets that sells data cards for overseas use, including Japan. They even speak a bit of English.

There are in fact lots of small stalls in Shamshuipo Apliu Street area that sell various types of data cards for various countries. I don't think you'll have difficulty getting a data sim for Japan. Ask the seller how to activate the card, and if you are going on the same day or the next day when you're there, you could also ask them to activate the card for you.

China Unicom sells data cards for travelling folks

    https://www.cuniq.com/hk_en/data-card/asia/

There is this: 4G Japan 7 Days 5GB Data SIM
Since you are going for 9 days, you may just buy 2 cards.

    https://www.cuniq.com/hk_en/data-car...7days-5gb.html

They have shops all over hong kong , their shops are at

Or you can go to the bigger 7-11 or Circle K shops ; they also sell them.

I've not come across them randomly - where are these guys in CWB ?

I was in SSP last week hunting for sim cards - I could have done without the 2h detour and picked one up in CWB

Not sure how these prices are:
-A shop between Wellcome and the parking garage on Great George's Street -
-A stall the Wanchai street market selling SIM cards last week, just off of Spring Garden Lane, in front of Lam Kee Aquarium

    Chinamobile has a 7-day card
3G Japan Data Prepaid SIM Card

There looks to be a number of 30day card options at Kansai airport:

We were in Japan two weeks ago and one of my team got a sum card for 100 HKD with unlimited 4g valid for a week I think he said. He got it from Kwai Chung plaza.

Although your comment about wifi devices is odd; mine lasts all day 24 hours and costs 0.2hkd per MB which, with my surfing on the phone, works out at only about 10-20 HKD a day. Glocalme I think.

you can also go online and check the options they have in japan. some just require you to pay upfront and pick up at the airport or they might post it to you

This article is pretty recent and gives some price indication when you buy a data SIM card in Japan: https://tokyocheapo.com/business/int...-card-options/
