Have some family in town and planning to take them to Okinawa. Haven't been there. Any tips suggestions? Looking for great food and beaches.

I went to Okinawa for the 1st time at end of June and it was bloody amazing, loved it, nice and relaxing but its bloody big the island, beaches everywhere and they were all nice.

Best tip is to hire a car, most car rental agencies have pick up and drop off from the airport and YOU MUST HAVE INTERNATIONAL DRIVING LICENCES.

I booked airbnb near to the center section of the island near Tiger Beach, a few minutes drive is Manza Beach, very very nice.
eating wise so many great places, this restaurant near my airbnb had people lining up to two hours, we just went early and the meat was amazing, 12000 yen for 3 adults and 1 kid.

Saw a fanfare for Okinawa today. Just curious, how much time is reasonable there? We have a kind of longish period for a holiday (nearly two weeks if we want), but wonder if it would be too long for a place like Okinawa?

We like snorkeling, so we could take the time to go to an outlying island, but surely only 3-4 nights max would be enjoyable there. Is it worth it to spend some time on the main island and go hiking or cycling? Could we hop between towns on a bicycle? Has anyone done a cycling tour there where some operator could help us with renting bikes and moving our luggage?

Edit: an alternative holiday we were thinking of in November was Vietnam, as we've never been there. Maybe it's better to take advantage of a long holiday in November to visit there -- please let me know if anyone has any thoughts on that.
