    Post Asia miles churning

My expenditure with credit card is going up so i'm planning to earn more asia miles.
I already have SC asia miles credit card so now i'm thinking about applying for BEA flyer, AMEX elite, and DBS black card. However, i recently found out their conditions say they will debit the original price of these welcome offers if i cancel the credit card within 12 months. Obviously, i can't reach the minimum spending for all of those cards in a year. I will try to call them before the annual fee hit to waive them. But i'm still worry they don't give the annual fee waive for next year. If i don't want to pay $1,800 of annual fee, i definitely gonna cancel the card within 12 months. In this case, are they really gonna claim me for the welcome offer? do they easily waive the annual fee by phone call? I would be very appreciated if anyone can share the experiences. Thanks.

So you only have an SC card right now?

How far are you from the spending requirement?

I spent around 70k with my SC card last year and i got annual fee waiver this year by calling them. I don’t worry about SC card. my only concern is the other cards that i’m trying to apply now.

Yes they will. Its hard to get a waiver from Amex but the others are usually not a problem.

I have no idea what you're asking. You want to get another Asia Miles credit card just in case you don't qualify for the AMEX fee waiver? You sound like my penny-pinching wife.

Anyway, the BEA flyer card makes it difficult to convert points to miles. You have to do it in blocks, and manually. Pain in the butt. The AMEX card, as you know, does this automatically.

With DBS you can request a fee waiver by pressing a button on their automated phone hotline, I assume they have a fairly low bar in terms of fee waiver, but your experience may very.

If you do cancel within 12 month to avoid annual fee, I don't think credit card company will waste time trying to get the welcome gifts back, but I've heard that they keep and share a list of serial fee dodger, so you do that too often, you may have trouble applying for new cards in the future.

May affect your credit rating as well.

usually fees are charged after 1 year if the first year waived. by the time you receive the bill, ask for waiver adn not approved, just cancel it its already cross 1y. very popular sports in hk all the ppl exercise it

I usually get a waiver on the CX AMEX after about $100K per year spending (I think their actual is $150K). Previous year I spent $120K. Have waived twice - no problems.

(Unfortunately lost my Marco Polo Silver since CX adjusted the formula)

Thanks for clarifying. I hardly ever use the card as I get x5 MR on my US Amex for all Airfare bookings. I am a MPC DM so they automatically waive all fees.
