Flight Upgrade Hacks

I remember a while ago a few buddies of mine were telling me there was this app or website that showed how full a flight was, and that the more full a flight was, the better the chance of getting an upgrade (I guess most airlines want to avoid another United situation, haha). Was looking to travel somewhere for Golden Week and wanted to see if anyone knew the name of this app?
