If you take a bus across the new bridge to Macau using a British Passport, do you need a visa for Mainland China, given that you likely pass through Chinese territory?

I take it if there is a crash on the mainland portion, bull dozers would show up and push them into the sea. That would assist with the sinking infrastructure.
