Daily work commute from North Point to Central

    Hi everyone,

I am looking at getting an apartment by North Point MTR and will commute daily to central. I am moving to HK from London in July.

I gather the MTR is busy? Is it any worse than the underground commute in London? Are there better times to travel to work in the am and pm? What are the busiest times of am and pm to commute? Is MTR reliable?

Are there any other viable transport links to use?

My main concern I suppose is the volume of people trying to use it, are you normally squashed together or are there seats/some room available?

    Thanks in advance

In rush hours it will be squashed but it is only a few minutes

13 minutes -- not too long to suffer. Fronts and ends of the train tends to have more space. Lots of people will get off at Admiralty, but then you're nearly at your destination.

It's similar to London, but it is delay-free, with trains that you can stretch your head out in, and more frequent.

There are several express buses like the 722, too, if you want some variety.

I used to do Mile End to Chancery Lane. North Point to Central would be quicker and less horrible.

No worse than central or jubilee line, At least there’s Air Con and mobile signal in HK.

If you’re in no rush take the Tram back home.

MTR also smells better than the Tube.

north point to Centeal is much better than getting on from Tin Hui. At least you can still get on the train. A morning kiss and hug will be given by your fellow passengers

The MTR are reliable, mostly, its only a 15-20mins commute so its not that bad even if you are packed like sardines, best times to avoid are 0900 to 1700hrs if possible. Seating wise, you can try your like but youll need to be quick off the mark! Alternatives are buses which take a bit of time maybe 30-40mins? You can always bike it if you are adventurous like me (just follow the tram lines lol), youll be drenched in the summer but its a buzz, prob take 15-20mins also. if you are not in a rush then get the tram, its like 25p but slow as hell, maybe 40 plus mins?
