Totally agree. CX's current sales are almost exclusively duty free or some impulse merchandise purchase. I can't see how people would begin to see them as an e-commerce platform of choice. It's just a bad fit.

The news that Cx are no longer wait listing award redemption flights is a bit of a downer. I've been seriously reappraising my 'loyalty'. I've still got tons of miles that I was saving up for when travel reopens, but I may just get a Samsung Fold 3. Even though I have the Fold 2 with miles a couple of years ago.

are your Cathay points also Asia Miles?

The redemption items are not too shabby at all. I ordered 5 different items last Saturday before points expired. 4 had arrived by Tuesday, the other yesterday but they’d even phoned me on Monday to say they would deliver Friday.

There’s actually so much choice that there’s nothing I ordered just for the sake of using points.

I’ve only ever had one flight redemption through Cathay. Their choices never matched by needs even with juggling.

Yes, Asia miles. In the early days I've upgraded to business on the spot. That became much more difficult but I've been able to get 2 first class return tickets to Italy about 5 years ago. But most of the time it's been next to impossible to get redemption flights.

This thread started a long time ago! And the name is still Cathay Pacific. And it is still my airline of choice. So there!

No problem booking flights for next year. One long-haul and one short-haul.
