UK Passport renewal - how long?

    It sounds like the ‘other’ passport requirement has changed. For the record my wife submitted this in Sep 2020, so the more recent experience of eightfivetwo is probably more accurate.

    I'm not surprised if they were forced to start accepting copies instead of originals...it is illegal in some countries to not carry your valid passport with visa at all times, or at the very least be able to produce it on request. Asking for the originals is ridiculous.

    Hi all - coming back to this.

    Passport up for renewal in May. Knowing that I'm not going to be travelling any time soon and that 9 months won't get added on any risk of waiting to renew until say April?

    Kid's passport also needs renewing and according to the website it's taking 4 weeks. Have asked someone who's waiting on hers and its been 5 weeks.

    I applied for child's first passport on 16th November.

    Documents marked as received on 6th December.

    Not heard back since then

    Have heard first passports are taking longer. Hope you get it back soon.

    Cheers! I just called up the UK passport office to check - it's been 'in processing' since 22nd December - so I guess continue to wait..

    Application approved 9:57am on 21 January 2022
    Application being processed 12:25pm on 22 December 2021
    Documents received 8:02am on 6 December 2021
    Application received 4:30am on 16 November 2021
    Identity details received 4:30am on 16 November 2021
    Email sent to person confirming your identity 4:18am on 16 November 2021
    Ask someone to confirm your identity 3:32am on 16 November 2021
    Application submitted 3:32am on 16 November 2021
