Travel to India on a HK passport

I wasn't aware that India is not issuing tourist visas for Chinese (and HK) passport holders. Has anyone any experience of this and know of any solutions? I have a friend attempting to travel for business (landing a business visa apparently possible but very complex).

Also, if they are of Indian origin they can get a tourist visa specifically on that basis (but in that case they would also likely have an OCI card too, which works).

No BNO. No Indian (Chinese by birth)

    Looks like it's a no-go.

I don't think there is anything official stating Chinese nationals can't apply for tourist visas. Obviously there has been some tension there, but looks like that is easing so hopefully it will soon be easier to visit.

Thanks. It's odd as there has been little if any media coverage, btu when you attempt to apply online the options just aren't there anymore (but still there for other passports)

does that also apply to holders of passports of the Republic of China ( commonly but incorrectly referred to as “Taiwan” ) ?

Does seem like there has been some change. May or may not be reflected in reality.

    Processing Time

Processing time : For Non HK Passport holders Min 7-10 working days . For HK Passport holder 5-6 working days

The service is there but the drop down visa menu does not include tourism visa option. If you apply with UK passport, the tourism visa is still an option.

I should add: my friend called the consulate and was told that tourism visa was simply not an option. Was recommended to apply for business visa but the process was very complicated and not worth it for a three-day visit.

And no Taiwan is not the same - only China, Macau and HK.
