Help us choose our first vacation destination

Family of four looking to book our first trip over Easter. Have two children ages 6 and 8. Want to mix relaxing around a resort and some culture / seeing the sights. We're thinking about Cebu, Phuket, or perhaps a couple of stops within Vietnam.

We're not yet experienced Asian travelers so we don't want anything too challenging to get to and/or communicate.

    Thanks!

Seam Reap - Cambodia. You can climb all over the ruins, go up in a balloon over them or lie by the pool at the hotel if it all gets too much. Great food in the local restaurants you can even get pizza for the kids..... We have been once alone and twice with visitors. everybody loved it....

Maybe Saigon and Nha Trang/ Hue or Hoi An in Vietnam. Fly from Macau with Viva Macau for a cheap fare.

I think Saigon and Sain Remp are great recommendations - with a little research on a clear idea of what you may want to do their you can have a fabulous time.

First time asian travelers, as you say, I would think your best bet would be club med for a hasslefree Easter

Koh Phangan is amazing - all the locals are friendly, it's cheap as hell, both for food and accomodation, there's tonnes of things to do (elephant rides, snorkelling, jungle tours) and the beaches are gorgeous. if you're going with kids then the 'downtime' after the full moon party would be a good slot to go, not overly crowded as all the party animals leave ASAP.

it's very safe and a relatively small island - most of the things you would sign up to do have a pick up and drop off service, so there would be no need to get taxis or anything. if you stay in Haadrin everything is in walking distance - restaurants, the beaches, convinient stores, internet cafes, spas... it's got enough to keep you entertained but it's not too overwhelming for a first-time traveling family.
