Which is why I apply the adage "never put anything in hold luggage that you cannot afford to lose". And not just for theft! It does make for bulky hand-luggage though.

Re the debate, on the few occasions I have checked bags, they are normally out before me. BUT I do have priority tags which sometimes helps speed them up in any event.

In the heady early days of TSA no-lock bags, I travelled quite a lot to the USA. It was amazing how many things were taken out of my luggage!

Mine is without a doubt the most scratched up, beat up piece of scrap to discourage anyone from nicking it. Helps as well if you carefully pack so that an oversize laundry bag of smelly socks is well positioned to fall out when opened...

Many/most of us do, including myself. My experience is still the same - it appears to take a lot longer for the luggage to arrive on the belt than it used to.

I never have a problem. Either luggage is there already or arrives almost immediately upon my arrival at the luggage carousel. Lots of travel too.

I also have priority tags. It helps in that my bag comes out first, but just means the delay is 30 minutes and not 50 (or whatever). When I made it to the carousel this last trip, the AC luggage was coming around, which is fine. Then my flight's luggage came down, the ones with the priority tags. Hope rises. Maybe 3 bags come out and then we revert to the AC bags. Hope crushed.
I also went through a stretch of 2 or 3 flights in a row where the machine broke, usally after the first handful of bags came down.

For those of you who haven't noticed a difference, how fast are
you to the carousel? I am almost always one of the first there, so my wait is bound to be longer. But 2 or 3 years ago, the wait was minutes. I could be gone before most people made it to the carousel. Now it is way longer and annoying. Usually costs me at least one bus.

No problems for me, either. Longest I've had to wait was 15 minutes.

This evening my bag arrived before I did. Have to say though, there were not many bags on the carousel when I picked it up and none coming off - which makes me think there would have been a lag for the others.

We've only had superfast deliveries here, about the fastest we ever had. We do have priority, so that helps, but we can usually grab our bags as soon as we get through immigration!
