Your work visa should take 4-6 weeks max unless you have received a letter requesting more information. It would be best to find out what the hold up is first.

You sound like you are already working... that's illegal ... you might want to talk to your boss about how he will manage the HKD300,000 fine if immigration catch you (that should speed it up abit if he is the one holding things up).

So basically you've been working illegally in HK for 6 months? And you anticipate still being illegal in another 3 months time?

As fth says, an Employment Visa application takes 4-6 (or 8 at most) weeks unless they ask you for further information.

My guess is that you are being scammed. How do you know that your application is pending? If you have the file number then look it up here: GovHK: Application Status Enquiry

If your boss makes some excuse for not giving you the number then you are definitely being scammed. Have you actually been paid for your work?

Sorry Daffy but I struggle to believe that you are from the UK. I had assumed from your grasp of English that you were perhaps from Thailand or one of the other minority countries that Immigration seem to be so wary of. If you really are British then 1) you should not have a problem unless you have no skills to speak of and thus it is difficult to prove a need and 2) you really should be able to write better.

So - are you sure you meet the criteria? Have they asked for any additional documentation? Your boss' suggestion to "reapply" seems really suss to me; surely you only have one name to apply in and they will know if you submit a duplicate application?!

And, of course, you are working already, aren't you?

Ok so my English is not great but there you go, I am dyslexic and actually need advice on this matter as I am sure you can guess it’s getting quite stressful as I need an outcome either way. Do I move on to another job different country which I really don’t want to do as I have made a life here for myself etc.
