Re-charging mobile phone battery at airport?

    Hi,

So I had a brain-fart and left my battery charger, travel adaptor AND spare battery at the office, with two bars remaining on the old battery.

I am on my way to the airport now and would like to know if there is a battery-charging service available in the departure area after immigration and security. My phone is a Nokia E71.

I will be arriving at the airport 2 hours prior to departure, and 1 hour charging would be sufficient to keep my phone alive until tomorrow evening when I return to HKG.

    Much appreciated.

There is a battery charging service at the MTR Airport Express (atleast in Central) -- after you get on the platform, towards the right. Pretty much everything other than the Jesus phone is supported.

Not sure about the Airport though.

I was going to say 7-11 or Aisle H in the Check-in Hall on Level 7 of Terminal 1, but they are in non-restricted areas. The 36 charging stations in the restricted areas all need adaptors, I believe.

I think I recall reading that the CX lounges have this facility if you have access there.

Thanks everyone! I am already on the move (three dots to the airport) so no can do at the Airport Express station! I am checked-in and have just the one carry-on bag.

PDLM - are you able to recall which of the lounges it is (I can access both Wing/Pier)? I would prefer to re-charge airside, but can you confirm that the chargers may be available or is it just the plug points?

Claire/Moving - I will ask at Aisle H if I can recharge airside at either the lounge or anywhere else. If that is my only option then I will recharge there!

Thanks again folks! I will report here back once I am done re-charging.

Or alternatively get an emergency charger from Fortress at the airport, only a few hundreds dollars and runs off aa batteries.

Jimbo, mate, thanks for that. Would you happen to know if there are universal chargers or are they phone-specific?

A new Nokia charger is only going to be a couple of hundred dollars at most isn't it?

If the CX lounges have it then they both will, but I'm by no means sure they do. (Obviously they have sockets you could plug a charger into.) If you have high status with CX then I guess the service staff would find a Nokia charger from somewhere - one of them almost certainly would have one there, for example.

Alternatively wander around until you see someone sitting with your phone type and ask if they have a charger you can borrow!
