I'm definitely interested in a book club. Just bought a batch of books at Flow this weekend. A little embarrassed to admit what some of them are, though. Ahem.

I recently finished Candide by Voltaire, and Of Mice and Men. I'm reading Suite Francaise now, it's depressing.

I'm also interested in a book club, just started Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie. Just let me know when and where and i'll come along...

I have about a hundred pages left in the book I'm reading now, and then I'll need to hit a bookstore.

Chef_John, since the club your idea, why don't you just pick the first book and set a meeting time. We could all bring a title to the first meeting and go from there. Otherwise, I think we'll never get this thing started...

I'm in, although I may be a bit fussy with book selection. Will try to think of some and make some suggestions - of course happy to hear of other people's ideas!

    Hmm.. sounds like fun.

Like Charley, I'm reading Midnight's Children at the moment. I started a few months back, put it down for a while, and found that I'd forgotten too many details! So now I'm on page 25 again.

I'll probably hit the book store tomorrow or Thursday, I'll let everyone know what I picked up and will set up a time and place in the same post.

    Choices

Alright gang, I hope everyone survived the typhoon yesterday just fine. I just got back from the book store and I've got 3 choices to get us started.

#1 The Husband by Dean Koontz
A man's wife is kidnapped with a ransom of 2 million dollars even though the man can't possibly pay.

#2 The Alexandria Link by Steve Berry
Another kidnapping only this time its the man's son and they will stop at nothing to get their hands on the lost Library of Alexandria.

    #3 Lost by Gregory Maguire
A writer with a new novel about a woman who is being haunted by the ghost of Jack the Ripper. The writer arrives in London and finds her friend is missing and a ghost is now living in his home.

So there are your choices. The first person who responds will choose from this list and that will be the book we'll start with. We'll set a time and place to meet after the book is chosen and everyone has had time to purchase it. Hope to hear from everyone soon!

    Happy Reading
