Do you ever do any research yourself?

In Hong Kong software testing is sort of like an unskilled job - anyone can do it. Most companies just hand over whatever buggy project to the client.

Hmmmm... I'm earning less than 10k for coding! Perhaps I should be looking for a testing job also :-S

I asked a few JobsDB recruiters to help me find staff for our company and received people with 1 year of UNRELATED experience whose expected salaries were $25,000.

I even received a waitress asking for $18,000 to be a junior tester with no experience.

thats because they don't do any research and seem to think that the I.T industry is awash with money when its no longer that way anymore.

Put it this way, If companies like Morgan Stanley are only offering senior I.T analysts 20k then they are clearly living in dream land.

Well yes, but we have a report in another thread of someone being paid HK$40K/month as a fresh IT graduate. There really isn't a "rate for the job" in this town - it's whatever you can get, so you can't blame people for trying to push the limits.
