Just hypothetically speaking -

Let's say you have a partner who wants to invest money in a venture, and you are a smart and energetic go-getter.

What businesses would you want to start in HK? Which areas / industries / niches are under-served?

What would you want to do to "make your mark" on this city?

Well... its pretty hard to pinpoint as there are really so much more opportunities in HK as compared to other Asian cities , besides China mainland of cos.

However as with all trades, you need some basic knowledge when you enter into the field.

What field is your friend looking into ? distribution or service orientated?

Thanks for getting back to me! I am looking into a serviced orientated business (B2B or B2C) with a key emphasis on scalability. Where would you feel there are under-served niches that fits these parameters?

there are a lot of ideas being thrown around on geoexpat alone. how about a dog walking service or selling frozen chapatis?

dont mean to be funny, but if you are a smart energetic go getter - seems a pretty vague question to post on here. surely you need an idea yourself what your skills, interests are. it is like asking how longs a piece of string.

That's fair enough - I'm new to HK and trying to better understand where I can quickly add value. I'm fairly sure given a few months of person-to-person research, I will find it. Just thought that this would be an interesting question to explore publicly.
