You dont renew HKID unless it's the old one without the chip.
And if it's the old one without a chip then there is no reason to renew it whilst outside HK - they just do it when they next visit here.
Hong Kong Smart ID Card Replacement Exercise
What has being parents got to do with your ID cards?
The ID card with or without a chip is not much use outside of HK, so best 'renew' when or if you come here.
Or do you mean renew their visa? It's entirely different from ID.
Or perhaps you are referring to retaining the right of abode on a Perm ID?
Some clarification would be most helpful in furnishing you with the information you might require, innit?
heard if parents have hkid, I can get one through them. they use to work in hk 10-20 years old had a hkid so I'm guessing it expired? or have to renew a new one?
You seem to be majorly confused about the whole nature of HKID, visas etc. I would suggest you pop in to Immigration Dept in Wan Chai, explain your situation in full and they will be able to explain how it works.
