An 80-110 range for 3-4 yr lawyers is higher than what's set out in the website you quoted (which mentions 70-100). Also, you can see that the figures vary a lot - eg for 6 years, the range is almost 50k - 82-130 (which includes the 85k figure you mentioned)
I personally have a private practice role in HK but am getting the lower end of the scale set out in your link. I understand that hires from o/s might get a bit less on the PAE scales because of (a) the way firms count when post admission experience kicks in (eg in Australia where I qualified, there is only 1 yr of training as opposed to 18 months HK/2yrs in UK) and (b) length of time needed to get up to speed with the local laws, as required. At least that's what I've told myself - in any case, I'm not unhappy with my pay as compared with Oz rates. Comparing them with US rates, however, may another matter. Finally, the link you posted refers to private practice, rather than inhouse roles - unfortunately I cannot shed any more light upon expectations for inhouse roles and how they may differ from private practice.

I also know of a lawyer 15 months out of law school working with a mid sized firm in HK for 75K (HK$) a month. Based on these two sources, I estimated 80-110 for 3-4 years of experience. BUT ... this is what I need. .... your opinions. Based on your message, salary would be $65K for 18 months experience. Would HK$85K be out-of-line for an in-house role at 3-4 years of exp?
Thanks!!!
