    patent officer

    hello everyone.
i would like to know if anyone here is working in the patent industry who can giv me some info.
let me introduce myself first, i hav a degree in engineer with 3 years working expereience as project engineer(mainly on products of electronic and water system), and i am thinking to switch to another professional.

I recently found out with my engineering background, i can switch to be a patent officer, but i hav no idea what qualifications that will help to increase my chance to get an interview....

can u guys giv me some idae?
will a degree in law be neassary(but i don't wanna spend another 3 to 4 years)?
or any professional institute may help me in "HONG KONG" , like "The Institute of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys of Australia (IPTA)" which i can get more info?

Might want to talk to HKPC. They provide a lot of patent related advisory services.

Not sure if the IP lawyers need your sort of expertise but look for firms that litigate patent infringement ( google hong kong law society and search for patent / IP firms).

to be honest, i never known that an engineering degree can help me to become a patent officer until recently.
i will try to contact with hkpc and see what information they can give me.
