    Tough Job Market for >40

Hi, my husband will be relocating to Hong Kong this summer and I'll also start looking once the kids are settled down in school. I have heard stories about how tough it is for someone>40 to find a job even though they have good qualifications. I have over 10 years of financial and planning experience in US MNC, an MBA/US CPA but I am worried that I'll be too old. Appreciate any tips.

Well it can be tough for the over 40s as can it be for those without Chinese language skills. You have to love employers who want someone under 30 with 20 years' experience.

But that doesn't mean you can't find anything (sorry about the double negative). And there's always the option of starting your own business. The best thing to do is start networking - one of the most important ways of finding a job in Hong Kong.

Also you can see about contacting this agency when you arrive. One of its main areas is financial and accounting, and you'll get a good idea of what to expect and what might be out there for you.

Well - it would be tough but i suppose you could try english tutoring? I heard its pretty demanding - even just teaching oral - but you could always give it a go with job hunting, you'll never know what you find. Job market is picking up lately, and since you are qualified and well experienced... Good Luck.
