Can anyone familiar with management/strategy consulting tell me if there is any hope of a non-MBA/PhD experienced hire breaking into the industry? I have a master's degree in a "softer" discipline and several years' experience in competitive intelligence and industry research.
Most firms publish rigid recruitment procedures and career progression information, giving the impression that only fresh MBAs will be considered. Is this the case? I've contacted the listed HR contact people at several firms to enquire about current openings, but received no replies thus far. Will I get anywhere contacting the partners at a firm, or only establish myself as a pest?
