Hi there, I've been reading around the forum for a few days now. I'm finding this place really good for information and somewhat funny at times too. I've only been lurking as I am shy.
I've finally logged on so here goes.
I am currently working as a Pharmacy dispensing technician in the UK and have been in community pharmacy for three years now. I don't hold a degree, I only studied up to second year of Pharmacology due to personal and family commitments. I do however hold NC and SVQ level 3 qualifications in Pharmacy services (supposedly equvalent to England's NVQ 3 and an ordinary diploma)
.
My boyfriend and I are thinking of finding jobs in HK next year. We were both born in Scotland and have parents from HK. His parents got him a HK ID when he was little so he does not require a visa to work. However my parents did not help me get one, therefore I would need sponsorship.
My huge concern is if there is a market for pharmacy techs like me in HK. Ideally I'd like to work in hospital pharmacy or clinical trials/research. I do worry that as I am not a pharmacist and do not have a degree, would anybody still want to employ me over a local?
English is my first language and I can speak Cantonese conversationally. I can read a little but not enough to use in a work place. Though I would most definitely be willing to learn more. I totally regret not finishing Chinese school!
Any comments or thoughts would be much appreciated.
