Fresh (Dutch) Master Marketing graduate looking for job

Hi everyone. I have just obtained my master diploma in marketing management. I am planning to take some time off and go to Hong Kong for two months (febr and march), before i hit the real job market. I would love to get a part time job during my stay in Hong Kong. I could also consider a full time job.

I am looking for any kind of job. Tutoring, manager, assistant, marketing you name it. My main motivation is to be active these two months, while i think about what I really want to do. I could even decide do say in Hong kong!

My cantonese is ok’ ish, although i do not read or write it. Furthermore i speak dutch, spanish and english of course. If anybody has something or know some vacancy please let me know.

Er, you can't just roll up in a country and start working! You would need an Employment Visa and you aren't going to get one for a 2 month job. If you had an Irish, Australian or New Zealand passport you could get a working holiday visa, but being Dutch that won't work.

And if you don't read or speak Cantonese in what sense is your Cantonese "OKish"?

lol what i meant was i do not read or write cantonese. but i do speak cantonese.

Not that easy to get a job in HK for a 2 months period and holding no experience. In your case, interview will likely take place in HK so physically you have to be present. You can give the DBA, the Dutch Business Association, a shot. Good luck!

i am not necessarily looking for a real job or a job at the level of a university graduate. volunteering job, or a short intern, promotions, tutoring, travel guide would be fine too.

Sorry, but you can't legally do it. You have no right to work in Hong Kong (unless you have right of abode here and haven't told us) so you can't work here in any way (even voluntary work) without getting an Employment Visa.

The only way you might be able to do that is as an Intern for one of the big financial institutions - but that would require you to get through a lot of interviewing with them and then to work hard when you were here. I get the impression you're looking for a bit of casual work for pocket money - I don't think you will find that legally.

Hi Everybody,

Just reading through the messages, and wanted to ask as I have done with quite a few of my own mates- Since I have grown up in Australia, I can speak fluent English and Cantonese as natives do, however I cannot read fluently in chinese. But my friends have informed me, that should not be a real problem, because most documents are written in English and communication is via spoken cantonese. I just wanted to get an opinion from other people as to whether that is true or not?
