I'm from the UK. Want to find a job in Hong Kong

    Hi everyone

I'm Amer from Dundee, UK. I am totally new to this Forum. I am an English Teacher. I teach in China but I would like to rellocate to Hong Kong. I would like to have some advice on how to approach my job search.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

How did you search for your job in China?

For China it was really easy. I applied online and I got it really quick. But for Hong Kong it seems its a different story. Are you in Hong Kong?

so far I've been applying on line but no response what so ever. I'm thining about coming to Hong Kong in person in about two weeks in an attempt to meet employers face to face. Do You know any good training schools there?

No offence, but your level of written English doesn't demonstrate a high level of proficiency. Therefore if applying online you may not be passing that first test. I shall leave it at your use of "what so ever".

    Good luck though

Do you have any teaching qualifications and teaching experience outside of China?

Thank you for your observation Fiona but can you let me know if I have your permission to use slang terms in this forum or are we all under some sort of spotlight here where there is someone checking for written accuracy? Anyone with any common sense would know that one is going to present himself or herself differently infront of potential employers.

As for my level of written English. I would like you to know that I have a law degree. I woud pass that kind of degree if I didn't have "written proficiency"

    Thank you very much!

And now your going to pick me up on the "woud" I know. Any dumb ass is going to proof read his written applications before he submitts them! btw it was supposed to be "wouldn't". I just bought a new phone and I'm trying to get familiar with it.

Time to put your shovel away, you're (or as you'd say, your) just digging yourself a deeper hole.

Are you always such a pain in the neck? You make chatting online sound so formal. Where are you from anyway?

First of all, this isn't a chatroom, so people on here aren't chatting. Secondly, you came here looking for advice in finding a job teaching English in Hong Kong. For anyone here to offer assistance, and trust me many have over the years as there are quite a number of members who would be able to share experiences, offer advice and even perhaps open a door or two for you, the expectation would be for you to present yourself well in your 'trade'. Therefore, if you can't clearly demonstrate the skills needed for the type of position you are after, you can only expect some push-back.

    Have a great day.
