    hated it

There are jobs seem a good fit, but they just require previous sector experience, such as insurance and financial sectors.
How can I get into those sectors without previous sector experience!!
Personally, I do not even think sector matters that much from IT project perspective.

Do you know anyone or placed yourself in situations where you get to know people who have worked in these sectors?

Saying in HK, loosely translated, "knowing people is better than knowing how to read"

Start thinking like an employer rather than an employee. You may have more luck finding a fit.

So you want a job that requires previous sector experience were previous sector experience actually doesn't matter without any previous sector experience?

This just shows how little you know about IT projects in financial services. Industry knowledge/experience can make a HUGE difference to the success of projects.

    care to explain more?
I understand industry knowledge/experience is more important to BA than other roles.
Sometime is important to people who is coding/testing.
But for management, could you help me understand?

Industry experience is of little practical benefit to be honest. If you're half decent technically then you can pickup the concepts behind whatever products you are dealing with pretty easily.

What you do need to so though is break into the club, at least you recognised that much. My advice is to accept than to get that foot in the door, you are going to have to make sacrifices. Personally I had to work away from home for six months on contract, maybe you need to cut your pay expectations, job grade, specialised field or something to get that first role, but once you have a financial services job on the CV, you're 'in'.

Without industry experience, you're effectively just performing an administrative function rather than providing any value add. How can you identify, prioritise and mitigate risks and issues with no experience? It also makes it difficult to talk to stakeholders and clients if you can't demonstrate to them that you understand their business. They're not generally the most sympathetic of people, especially in the current climate when everyone is under pressure to do more for less.

Some business areas are easy to pick up than others - insurance is generally at the bottom of the glory pile - but most financial services employers won't touch a candidate who doesn't have relevant experience unless it's either for a very junior role and/or the candidate has a family member on the board.
