    The chance may not be positive if you try it with the companies straight away in HK. But you might consider to try with German company.

    I worked in a German company before. They love German graduates and have hired quite a number of fresh graduates from Germany. They can pay quite well. But if you want to get the better package(including housing). You migh consider to join a German company in German first, then ask for transfer.Local direct hire will not include housing.

    German companies in HK are quite a lot, namely Alliance, BASF, Bayer, Schenker...etc And they are one of the best employer in the town.

    For example, the employer has to post job advertisements in Hong Kong, interview several local people, and then write a convincing essay to the immigration department why all those local applicants are unsuitable for the job and why you are the only suitable candidate.

    But I guess that only applies to local-local companies? My employer is a large UK based company; I just graduated in Europe and got my working visa without any problem. Or would they have actually gone through that ordeal to get me in? I've seen a few, non-local, people come in after me, but don't think there were any interviews with locals prior to that.......?

    @peacock,
    Thanks for sharing.
    BTW, as you got a position in HK, did you have any qualification that local people did not have ?
