I will say, 35K is significantly lower than what the market is paying at the moment. Usually, you can ask for a double for this position and you know it well.
To be honest, your package is really not attractive and why you decided to relocate back to HK. How's you pay in Canada in the past?

My salary was 87K CAD base + 12-14K bonus. I raised that with management and asked for 60K HKD month, because this is how much 87K CAD translates to, in my opinion. It seems like my management didn't even know how much I was making - which I find hard to believe, it was all handled by HR. If my salary is not revised, I will be looking for a new job soon.

On the bright side, I have some negotiating power, which I'm excercising right now. If my salary doesn't get revised, I will find a new job. Should not be a problem, I hope.

Hi there,

Im from Canada myself, representing T.O. here. I think your employer probably calculated and translated your salary "after" Canadian taxes, which in your case is like 40% income tax. Here in HK the highest tax bracket is only 15%. Also, i think you can demand a lot more in terms of compensation. Good luck.

Team Lead in IT seems to generic a description to comment on salary. It depends on the nature of business, experience and also how big a team you are leading.
