just wondering where to find the volunteer jobs in Hong Kong and I would like to do something "useful" rather than shopping, surfing on internet, TV etc. I don't speak cantonese, but English and Mandarin, not sure whether most of volunteer jobs require cantonese ability.

Many local chinese schools are looking for native-English speakers to read to the kids in English, so you could check with the schools in the area that you live in.
Mother Theresa's Home of Love in Kowloon is always looking for volunteers in the kitchen (peeling veggies and such)...

American Women's Association has a lot of charitable organization contacts. I'm sure they could provide you with some choices.
