    Looking for Work in HK

I have recently moved to Hong Kong. I have a dependant visa and I am looking for work. The only problem is that I don’t have a Bachelor degree yet as I am still working on it. It seems that a degree is a minimum requirement for almost every job in Hong Kong, especially if you are a foreigner. I did finish a Tesol course in Canada before I came to Hong Kong as I thought it might help me in my job search in HK. My previous job experiences were as a sales manager in a retail store and a cable installer for a Tv cable company. Would anybody recommend me what kind of work should I be looking for and salary expectations.

depending on age and experience, dont get threatened with the degree requirement, everybody would like to hire a person with a degree, If you have years of experience then it shouldn't matter. I would rather hire a person that has many years of experience then with someone who has a degree and only a few years. Most of the local uni grads are quite morons when it comes to common sense, their english sucks.

Your problem that I see is that can you speak cantonese, retail wise/cable installer you will need to speak to the locals.

    Good luck!

... agree, no practical experience, very little analytical and inter-organizational communication skills, to say the least.

[There are a few exceptions out there]

Thank you all for having the time to reply. I guess if I can't find a job in sales related field, I can try to apply for an English tutor position.

There is always getting out there and meeting new faces and who knows, I might get lucky and find a job that way.

    Cheers
