How much does an engineer earn for outside country's service?

My name is Nadine. I'm the purchasing supervisor in the Thai Company. I'm about to have the service from Hongkong Company so I would like to know how much is the Service rate per hour for Engineer and Project Consultant. The supplier quoted us 650 HKD per hour for Engineer and 1,500 HKD per hour for Project consultant. Do you think it's reasonable enough or not. Please advise.

Nobody can answer your question. Rates vary hugely depending on the company and the skills of the staff. Our project consultants would charge about 350-500 USD per hour.

Thank you very much anyway. Because the rates are variable. So I'm finding the average rate from you guys.

The point is, it's not about whether the rates charged are "average" or the same as charged elsewhere, its about whether or not the service provided adds more value than it costs and whether somebody else could do as good a job more cheaply. You have all the information you need to make a decision.
You know what is being offered and you know the benefit of the service you derive and who else you might be speaking to.

If you have not spoken to anyone else, then go tender your job and get on with it.

If you have found an acceptable proposal and it's value-adding, get on with it.

The clients who annoy me the most are the ones who penny-pinch at every opportunity while you give them advice that saves them 10x your fee or makes them heaps of money!

Average depends on the sector and the experience of the engineer.
