If that's what you really want to do then don't give up! But at the same time I would definitely do more research and ask more questions to get a better understanding of the situation.

One thing I will add that *real* schools normally are more concerned with qualifications (and experience) than with nationality, and if ImmD sees a Pinay is being offered the same salary as, say, an Australian, for the same work, the visa issue doesn't normally seem a problem (my workplace currently has Filipino electrical and computer engineers on the same contracts as everyone else, no problems at all).

I agree..I am from the Philippines too and my major is English with 5 years experience of teaching back in the Philippines( 2yrs teaching Koreans, 3 yrs teaching college )...I gave up teaching 3 yrs ago and relocated here in HK but not teaching, instead DRIVING...in short my visa is FDH which stands for Foreign Domestic Helper visa...Good luck for her trying to get in here as a Non-Native English Teacher...She may be better try somewhere else like SG, Thailand, China,..Coz HK is tough..and for her to get 11,000HKD is like an insult to her being a teacher here as I get paid 14000HKD as a family driver.
SO I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN. SAD BUT TRUE
