    Teacher's salary in International Schools

Hi everyone. Just moved to HK with my wife and 1yo daughter. Wife has a job at an ESF school. I have an interview with an international school but was wondering about salary ranges. (I know, I know - depends on x and y and...) but ballpark. Have 8 years teaching experience.

    Thanks in advance!

The very rough salary range at international schools is 30K - 80K / month. I assume that you will fall somewhere in the middle of that range. Be sure to check all the benefits of each school's package, some international school positions will include tuition for your children and that can be worth a lot.

    shri and TeachHK like this.

Thanks a mil jmbf. I thought it might be around the same range as ESF schools but didn't want to be too presumptuous.

On a side note - where does a guy get a haircut around here that doesn't cost the same as a women's cut... Almost considering just buying clippers and shaving it all off...

QB House is good, they used to be $50, so when they increased to $60, quite a few new brands opened to compete. I even saw GB House!

Best bet is to buy your own clippers, if you have a HSBC or Hang Seng credit card, then you likely have reward cash on it, use that to pick up a pair from Broadway or Fortress.

    Kiu Kwun Barber Shop
74 Java Rd in North Point

$88 for haircut and wash. Traditional Shanghainese barbers, no longer too many of them left. I go there for the atmosphere. Three people serviced me - one to cut the hair, a second to wash the hair and a third to style the hair. Plus they use a straight edge razor to trim the borders for a nice crisp outlook - bellisimo.

My Maid charges me nothing for a crew cut trim that I've had for years - treatment about every 3 weeks.

Overall cost - about $100 or maybe less when I purchased my last set of electric clippers in Apliu Street, ShamShuiPo.

Previously I paid out $40 for a haircut - in a long departed - "Hole in the Wall" barbershop in Apliu Street, ShamShuiPo.
