When you say 'doctor', do you mean GP?
My wife is in the same boat given I was transferred here. she is a GP from the UK. Keen to hear any views/experiences for foreign doctors working here.
Yes I am a GP and I love living in HK so I would like to work.
I tried the exam in early september but I have only validated the Test in medical English but not the Examination in Professional Knowledge. I am looking for the best solution for me between restested the Licensing examination in march or find a job with a limited registration.
Not understanding Chinese language limit the number of patients foreign doctors have in HK. The very small number of non Chinese speaking doctors from western english speaking countres in HK have full time translation staff in their clinics.
Working as a government doctor without fluent Cantonese is not possible.
I think you've got it backwards.Original Post Deleted
Its to interpret Cantonese into English.
All doctors in Hong Kong must be fluent in English - all their exams are in English while the patients may not be.
