Smile Annual Appraisal in Hong Kong

    Hi Friends,

I am working in IT sector.

My annual appraisal is coming and I don't know how much appraisal I should ask company here in HK.

I am working on contractual basis.

I understand that annual appraisal depends on my performance, company and many other factors.

I am not asking you about how much appraisal I will get of course, I just want to know the usual hike/increment in salary in HK in percentage in appraisal considering everything which effects appraisal (such as performance etc.) as "average".

    Working experience: 7 years

Please feel free to ask if anything not clear.

    Thanks in advance

For outstanding performance, 10%. For above average performance, 7%. For average performance, 3% (around the inflation rate).

1-2% for average, 3-5% for above average and 10% including promotion

Prepare for zero and anything above that is a bonus.

Unless you've performed well and your skills are in demand you can easily be replaced with somebody cheaper, That's the management mindset.

I forgot to add, only 10% of people can be considered in the "outstanding" category, 20% in the "above average" category, 40% in the "average" category, and the remaining 30% are either "below average" or "shit" and these 30% of people will get sweet FA

If everyone is outstanding, then that makes everyone average. No joke, this is the bullshit that comes out of HR people's mouths and they force me to rank 30% of my staff as below average or shit regardless of how they really are. Yes I try to hire only outstanding people, but if I am successful in this task then that punishes 30% of them. So I try not to be too successful in my hiring

I would aim for 5% if you're a good employee and 10%+ if you're amazing. If they give nothing then unless the job is super awesome, update the CV.
