Hi everyone,
I am a British doctor and have completed the initial part of my post-graduate training in the UK. I have been working abroad for a few years and always planned to return to the UK to finish my specialist training (cardiology). However, due to a number of factors, mostly that I think I might prefer to live and work in HK, I'm considering cardiology specialist training in HK instead.
I know that I'll have to take the licentiate exam (which is difficult) and do internship for one year (seems unnecessary but that's the way it is) and then apply for specialist training (hoping I actually get a training position). On top of all that, I'll also need to learn how to speak Cantonese.
The good news is that I have time to compete these things - I plan on doing a PhD first, during which time I can take the licentiate exam and learn Cantonese.
I was just wondering if anyone out there had any advice regarding the licentiate exam, specialist (cardiology) training in HK, or just general views on what life in HK is like for a doctor?
I would appreciate it help! This will be a long but interesting and exciting journey I hope...
Thanks again!
