Passed HKMLE and finished first year of work as a doctor in HK

Hi all,

I am a recently graduated doctor from Sydney Australia. I am half Chinese (my father is from HK) and I have always wanted to move to HK and work/live. I have read a number of things on this forum (most of which have been discouraging) regarding passing the HKMLE and a subsequent House job.

I am wondering specifically, if i have limited Cantonese skills, will this affect my allocation choices when applying for jobs along with other local graduates? And will this affect my ability to get into specialist training streams? I am particularly interested in surgical specialities.
