When to inform Immigration for departing helper please

I've filled out the form and we have both signed it. Contract termination date is 10th May.

Immigration website says notify within 14 days of termination which I assume is 10th May and not the day I gave her the 1 motnh notice? Early termination, succession of gradually diminishing performance issues after 5-1/2 years, but all of the process has been followed including long service award, flight etc.

However I am working on applying for a work visa for a new helper so I am wondering whether there is any harm in notifying immigration early? New helper will be end of contract not break or early termination and I have assistance in how to apply for a visa without using agency so that angle is covered. Trying to reduce the length of time between helpers!

I am assuming existing helper will still have 14 days after 10 May before she needs to exit HK rather than when I drop the notice into Immigration Tower? .

This is HK, I assume nothing until the power of GeoExpat speaks Thanks in advance

You need to fill out the form, can submit by mail or online. https://www.gov.hk/en/residents/empl...eignhelper.htm

There is an option to select "helper was/will be terminated on [DATE]" It does say notify within 7 days so probably you should wait until 7 days before the date to submit it. So as not to get a letter back saying you didn't follow the rules!

As for hiring a new helper, on the form https://www.immd.gov.hk/pdforms/ID988B.pdf
There is a section for reason of employment. You can select "Replacement" and then the date that the old helper will be leaving.

Thanks so much. You're right, I actually knew in my head it was 7 but I also had 14 in my head for her departure.I'm a 10 minute walk from Immigration Tower so that's lunchtime sorted
