Finding work in HK with visa

    Hello,

I want to move to HK to work for a few years. I’d like to find a job in risk management (the area I have experience in) with an organisation that provides support for visas. Most companies don’t mention whether they will provide this or not. As a general rule, do companies in HK provide visa support and what are some of the common ones? thanks

You need to provide something that no local could, can you demonstrate that to immigration?

Hi, welcome to the forum. I think you would first need to establish whether for your profile, it could be likely to generally obtain a visa - the company sponsoring the visa would need to inter alia establish that there is no sufficient local talent for your position. This requires a certain size and sophistication, but it has to be said that in big companies, if they want you, they will generally find a way to get the visa for you.
Maybe it would be good to speak to some headhunters or people in your network who are already in Hong Kong to get a better idea.
Also, it would of course be important whether a potential employer would be ok with your plans to only come to Hong Kong for a few years.

I've been working in HR/recruitment for almost 15 years, I'd put it another way: if you were a top MNC company, why would they hire you? You have to give them a compelling argument - HK is full of talent whether it be local or expat.

It'd help you application alot if you already moved to HK, as there are so many candidates "fishing" for a job that as employers we normally don't take these applications very seriously unless they are very specialised and have a rare skill/experience

Thanks everyone for your responses and advice. I guess in this time it’s difficult to take the risk of just moving somewhere to find a job. I’ll try seeking out other avenues like my network.
    thanks again
