Completely random question out of curiosity... If you do a distance learning course while in HK and get your degree from overseas, is it recognised for IANG if it has some sort of local accreditation?

    - thats what I meant .. locally accredited program, but from an overseas uni. So I guess thats a pathway for people who are on dependant visas and then can then move over to IANG ...

Sadly, degree from overseas is Not recognised. HK Immigration has a list of universities, with specific types of courses/degrees that are eligible for IANG; and that list updated each year from the Education Bureau.
They will check if your degree is in that list. University of Hong Kong is recognized ; but if your degree is not one of those designated (Bachelor / Masters ) ; then you would not be recognised.
Example is the HKU SPACE courses are not recognized / accredited. HKU is doing their best to get recognition for the SPACE courses, but so far not much luck.
