Possible to get job offer in HK w/t work visa?

Hello!

I am moving to Hong Kong from Canada in Aug to work as a teacher for Victoria Shanghai Academy in Aberdeen, anyone know the school?

My boyfriend who has experience teaching English but does not have TEFL want to be with me as well. I believe he would not be granted a work visa if he has not been offered a job from HK, is this so?

One option is to go to HK and apply for a teaching job there and/or take a TEFL course. I heard you can take a TEFL course in HK/CHINA and then be able to get a work visa without leaving the country, is this so?

Could he possibly be offered a job while he is in HK without a work visa, and would the employer give him time to get one, or sponsor one for him? OR do employers require that applicants possess one already?

Basically, what are his options? Thank you, any advice is appreciated!

It's possible because I did it before but it can be extremely difficult. He will need to find an employer willing to sponsor him for an employment visa.
