Offered a new job in HK. Need advice.

I was offered a job in HK with base salary of 78,000 HKD per month plus 30,000 HKD per month for apartment expense. I am in the production/manufacturing business. I would like to know if it is reasonable rate in HK? Also is 30k enough for an apartment in the kowloon side of HK?. I would be living alone. Thanks for any advice.

HK30k is a good amount for an apartment anywhere in HK, esp Kowloon side.

    Have a look at squarefoot.com.hk or gohome.com.hk
to get ideas on how much your money can get you, but it's defintely more than enough

I'd love to have something like that but I don't even have a job offer yet...

I too think you can live well on that amount. Obviously don't know your lifestyle but that is a good package.

well, we pay less than $20K on housing and we have a great place, but it's VERY remote.

we have 2 kids, 2 dogs and a helper...

we don't make anywhere near that and we are doing alright, so....
a single person on $108, 000, unless an idiot, should have no problem.

Assuming you're at or below sr mgr or director level, I'd say that's a competitive offer. A bit low for a GM or MD in that profession.
