IMHO get a lawyer. Explain the situation - get them to sort out things with the company. I had some issues - used Browne & Jacobsen in the UK (I was working for a UK company but they had me based in HK). Saved me a lot of hassle and helped me out loads.
One reason I used a lawyer is very simple - once a company doesn't want you they forget you very quickly and you become the pain in their arse that they want rid of. You are also unlikely to understand the finer points of employment contracts.
A phone call to a lawyer usually is FOC to start of with and in the end in my case the company that I worked for ended up paying for the lawyer I used.
